So, I’m a 34 year old food lover who is encouraged by friends to share my reviews and recipes. I also want to see great new eateries get the recognition they deserve. I love eating and I don’t discriminate on cuisine or particular ingredients. I moved to Perth from Melbourne almost a decade ago and have loved seeing the WA food culture develop. My love of eating food naturally led to my love of cooking and baking. I love trying a new recipe and seeing how it turns out. I get even more pleasure through sharing those dishes with friends and family and I hope this can be an extension of that.

I’m not going to pretend to be an expert but I am passionate, I love food and anything that helps me get it. The tips I’ll share are those that I’ve learned from others and those I’ve found useful through experience. My friends are kind and encouraging, as is my husband who likes my cooking, but let’s be honest he has to say that and as someone who has to eat gluten free, his standards aren’t as high!

Most things I make will be Gluten free, because of my husband’s allergy. We found out he was intolerant 2 weeks before our wedding and to be honest I think I was more upset about it than he was. To me it meant we couldn’t share our meals at restaurants, which for someone who ALWAYS has food envy, meant that I effectively couldn’t have two dishes for dinner.  Whilst this isn’t as big a problem now, seven years ago, it meant that I was baking our own GF bread and making most things from scratch to avoid added gluten. Hopefully the gluten free section will help if you are planning on entertaining someone with a gluten allergy or if you are having us over ;).

Final note - I’m not about perfection… wait, let me clarify, because those who know me will scoff at that. I do strive for perfection and can be hard on myself when I fall short. What I mean, is that this blog isn’t about perfection. I want to show that most things don’t turn out to be perfect, no matter how hard you try. I’m not going to hide those mistakes or mishaps here. I’ll show the side of the cake that was left in the tin, or the burnt edge of a pie. I want to take a realistic approach of what home cooking is like. I’ll share and review weeknight dinner recipes as well as those meant for entertaining others. I hope to have a bit of fun reviewing places I go, whether for fine dining or cheeky Friday takeaway.

Rating system: I find that I’m quite hard when I have to put a numerical value on something and rarely give a 10/10 or 5 stars because I always think there may be something better. Instead, I’m going to use the following 2 questions;

1)      Will I eat here again/Will I make this again?
2)      When?

Success! Message received.
